"and it's a story that might bore you but you dont have to listen...because I always knew it was going to be like this"

This really needed updating and I really can't think of anything to say. What are you supposed to say in these things anyway? Well, ermm, let's see. I recently graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in American Studies, and will hopefully (if money permits) be returning in the autumn to undergo an MA in Cultural Studies. If that all dies though I will have to find one of those mythical job thangs....

Anyone who is reading this probably already knows about my numerous obsessions, so it seems kinda redundant going into them, but I need something to fill this space. I'm still working slowly on the ultimate DVD collection, but the process has been slowed down the last couple of years by a serious lack of money. People can call me a snob as much as they want, but I still don't see anything wrong with (largely) ignoring the commercial toss Hollywood churns out dominated by either bad CGI or crude (what I am presuming is supposed to be) comedy in favour of films thay are actually worthy and have some merit. It's not my fault that the majority of the films worth watching are bitter ;-) It makes sense though that a lot of my films are miserablist as my favourite period of cinema history is the New Hollywood era of 1968 to 1979, which (as people who I have ranted at will already know) was dominated by a new breed of filmmaker interested in making works of art, willing to break taboos, investigate darker subject matters and be generally pessimistic about life in general (the subject matter of the films being coloured by the state of society at the time i.e. Vietnam, Nixon and so on). Most of my favourite films come from this era (Godfather, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Badlands, Deer Hunter, Annie Hall, Last Picture Show, Bonnie & Clyde and so on), aswell as many of the greatest actors (DeNiro, Pacino, Hoffman, Nicholson) and directors (Scorcese, Altman, Mallick, Coppola) of all time. And then Spielberg and Lucas came and ruined it all, but that is a rant for another day....

My other obsessions are music and the WWE/WWF, and while the latter is shuned by many as being dumb (which it is), I have never found anything more entertaining, and most of the people who insult it actually end up enjoying it once they give it a chance. As for music, my tastes are again generally miserable or bitter, with my favourite artists including (off the top of my head) Bob Dylan, The Smiths & Morrissey, Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and Joy Division. My favourite album is Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan, and my favourite songs Positively 4th Street, The River, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, Come Pick Me Up and Love Will Tear Us Apart.

See, I told you I have nothing interesting to say, and as such I will stop ranting now.
